The Bombay High Court has given its verdict on June 27, 2019, by the Bombay High Court on justifying the reservation. The Bombay High Court has upheld the validity of reservations for the Maratha community in government jobs and education in Maharashtra. The court has said that the Maratha reservation should be reduced from 16 per cent to 12 or 13 per cent.

The Bombay High Court said that the state government has the right to give reservation. The court has considered the commission's report of SEBC. According to the Gaikwad Commission report, 12-13% reservation should be given and the court also considers this.

Prior to the verdict on the Maratha reservation, the Mumbai Police had increased security outside the Bombay High Court so that the Mumbai Police was ready to stop any untoward incident. There is a wave of happiness in the people of Maharashtra. Now he will get reservation in government jobs in Maharashtra.

In the year 2018, the Maharashtra government gave 16 percent reservation to the Maratha community in education and government jobs. Many petitions have been filed in this and against the support in the High Court. The Bombay High Court had reserved its decision on March 26, 2019 after hearing both sides. The Supreme Court refused to consider the petition filed on Mar 24 against the Maratha Reservation, in which challenging Bombay High Court's decision was challenged.

When was Maratha reservation implemented?
The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly passed a resolution of 16 percent reservation for education and government jobs for the Marathas under the category of Social and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) on November 30, 2018. Challenging reservation, many petitions were filed in the High Court.

Demand for reservation pending since the 1980s:
Demand for reservation of Marathas was pending since the 1980s. The State Backward Commission examined backwardness on 25 different parameters on the social, educational and economic basis of the Marathas. From this, the status of Maratha was found pathetic on all the parameters. During this survey, about 43 thousand Maratha families were identified.
